Overview

Nextpoint Academy offers guided, self-paced training courses designed to help you get the most value from your Nextpoint databases. Through short interactive modules, you'll learn the most common workflows in Nextpoint Discovery and Litigation databases, allowing you to view the capabilities of the platform and walk through the steps to make them happen.

Each course is structured in bite-sized 10-20 minute sessions that guide you through every step of your tasks. Upon completing all modules in a Discovery or Litigation course, you will earn your Nextpoint certification.


How to Access Nextpoint Academy

If you have access to a Nextpoint database, you should have received an invitation to Nextpoint Academy.

To get started:

  1. Check your email for "Nextpoint Academy" and click the login link
  2. If you can't find the email, navigate to https://nextpoint.ispringlearn.com/ and use the "Forgot Password" link
  3. If you need additional assistance, contact support@nextpoint.com

Available Certifications

1. Discovery Database Certification

The Discovery certification is designed for users who work with eDiscovery workflows, including document upload, review, coding, search, and production.

Course Structure:

Introduction

  • Discovery Certification Introduction (5 minutes) - Course objectives and navigation overview

Upload and Import (For Advanced Users handling imports)

  • File Room and Upload (10 minutes) - Understanding your database's file storage and upload options
  • Native File Import (8 minutes) - Importing data in its original format
  • Importing a Production with Load File (30 minutes) - Importing produced data from other parties
  • Upload and Import Quiz (10 minutes)

Review and Search

  • Discovery Organization (10 minutes) - Setting up folders, grid view templates, and coding fields
  • Review and Coding (10 minutes) - Individual, family, and bulk document review and coding
  • Redactions (8 minutes) - Applying redactions to documents
  • Boolean Search (15 minutes) - Keyword search techniques
  • Advanced Search (8 minutes) - Searches using metadata and coding fields
  • Review and Search Quiz (10 minutes)

Endorsement and Export (For Advanced Users handling productions)

  • Production Organization (10 minutes) - Setting up production folders
  • Endorsements (15 minutes) - Generating Bates stamps
  • Exporting & Sharing (20 minutes) - Exporting and sharing document sets
  • Endorsement and Export Quiz (10 minutes)

Total Course Time: Approximately 2.5-3 hours


2. Litigation Database Certification

The Litigation certification focuses on trial preparation workflows, including transcript management, exhibit preparation, and case organization.

Course Structure:

Introduction

  • Litigation Database Introduction (5 minutes) - Course objectives and navigation overview

Case Connections

  • Exchange (10 minutes) - Transferring documents from Discovery to Litigation databases
  • Facts, Issues, and People (15 minutes) - Creating case connections and building your case story
  • Evidence Dashboard (10 minutes) - Navigating the Evidence tab, exporting facts, and building timelines
  • Case Connections Quiz (10 minutes)

Working with Transcripts

  • Importing Transcripts (15 minutes) - Best practices for video and text transcript imports
  • Designating Transcripts (20 minutes) - Setting up designations, applying objections, and bulk import
  • Transcript Search and Reporting (20 minutes) - Searching across transcripts and generating reports
  • Transcript Quiz (10 minutes)

Preparing and Presenting Exhibits

  • Exhibit Stamping (15 minutes) - Organizing and customizing exhibit stamps
  • Exporting Exhibits and Exhibit Lists (20 minutes) - Exporting exhibits and sharing files
  • Theater View (15 minutes) - Presenting documents with callouts and keyboard shortcuts
  • Exhibit and Theater View Quiz (10 minutes)

Total Course Time: Approximately 2.5-3 hours


Account Dashboard Course

This course covers administrative features and workflows available to Dashboard Admins managing a Nextpoint account.


Course Format

All Nextpoint Academy courses feature:

  • Interactive click-throughs that guide you step-by-step through real workflows
  • Self-paced learning so you can complete modules on your schedule
  • Knowledge checks with quizzes to reinforce your learning
  • Certification upon completing all modules in a course

Who Should Take These Courses?

Discovery Certification:

  • Reviewers should focus on the "Review and Search" section
  • Advanced Users and Project Managers should complete all sections including "Upload and Import" and "Endorsement and Export"

Litigation Certification:

  • All litigation database users, from case preparation through trial presentation

Account Dashboard Course:

  • Dashboard Admins responsible for account-level management
